MOON MAGICK
The energy tides of the lunar cycle are perfect for projects, dreams & magicks that you are bringing into your life. The NEW MOON begins a new cycle & is excellent for initiating projects & doing ceremony or meditation for increase & growth. The time between the New & Full Moon is known as the Waxing moon, meaning the moon is growing in size & outward strength. During this time, meditations & spells for increase can be done effectively. The FULL MOON brings power & energy to both the seed you have planted at the New Moon or to fulfill a long-term goal or desire. The time between the Full Moon & the New Moon is known as the Waning moon; meaning the moon is decreasing in size but gaining in inward strength. It signals a time to go inward to receive wisdom & information & to let go of things, atitudes or people who no longer contribute to your life or are detrimental to your goals.
Here are ideas for Moon Phases in September, October, and November:
The FULL MOON on Sunday, 9/2 is in Pisces, perfect for letting your creative mind run with ideas, and connecting with close friends and family. Colors for this full moon are lavender, dark blue and white, stones are amethyst and rose quartz, herbs are poppy seed and thyme. The NEW MOON is in Libra on Monday, 9/17, a great time to evaluate imbalance in your life and work to correct it. Colors for this new moon are yellow and pale blue, stones are opal and lapis lazuli, and herbs are sage and mint. In October, the first FULL MOON is also the Harvest Moon and falls in Aries on Tuesday, 10/2. This would be a great moon for spells that help give that extra push toward a major goal of yours. Colors are red and orange (quite fitting for the Harvest Moon), stones are diamond and bloodstone, herbs are cayenne and marjoram. The NEW MOON on Tuesday, 10/16 falls in Scorpio, a wonderful moon for deep introspection and discovery of mysteries. Spellwork for new beginnings would be especially appropriate. Colors are purple, navy and black; stones are topaz, lodestone and bloodstone & herbs are raspberry, pine and hops. OCTOBER 31ST, HALLOWEEN is a BLUE MOON and occurs on Wednesday in Taurus. This is a time to spruce up your home and make it aesthetically pleasing to the eye and is also a time to pamper and indulge yourself. Colors are cream and light green, stones are emerald and sapphire & herbs are catnip and bergamot. The November NEW MOON falls on Wednesday, 11/14 in Scorpio, this would be the time to check the results of your new moon spellwork in October, and relight some candles to reinforce earlier workings. Colors are purple, black, and navy. Stones are topaz, lodestone and bloodstone, & herbs are raspberry, pine and hops.
November's FULL MOON is on Friday 11/30 in Pisces. This would be a great time for spells that enhance your creativity. If you are a writer, this would be the night to work through any writer's block that you may have been experiencing. This would also be the night for any spells that would enhance closeness in your love relationships. The colors for this full moon are lavender, white and blue. The stones are aquamarine and coral and the herbs are poppy and mint.
Astrology provides rich metaphor to describe & re-vision events - personal & collective. It IS NOT a means to predict experiences literally; it speaks through figurative, poetic imagery. Although this imagery may strongly suggest factual events, it foretells the nature of events, not the events themselves.
We enter September still under the influence of the Saturn-Pluto opposition, which occurred August 5. This aspect occurs only once every 35 years. It requires that consensual reality (Saturn) be purged of influences that unduly limit much-needed metamorphosis (Pluto). This aspect will be repeated November 1, with Saturn retrograde. Any retrograde planet advises internalizing and personalizing issues represented by the planets involved. In other words, we'll have the potential to comprehend what we can do in our personal sphere of influence to move beyond habitual, socially ingrained constraints. This is far more easily said than done!!!
Mars enters Capricorn September 8, and remains there till October 27. It was in Sagittarius since February 14, due to its having been retrograde May 11-July 19. The "revealed truths" discovered (hopefully) in that time can now directly impact the world you're building for yourself. Be very clear that's exactly what you're doing! This is not a dress rehearsal; that's already happened! Do what you must do to give explicit shape and form to your truest desires - something that gives your life a real sense of purpose and meaning.
When Saturn goes retrograde September 26, it will seem to inhibit the development of some aspect of life. It will actually be encapsulating that aspect so you can deliberately examine it. The Saturn-Pluto opposition will greatly augment your ability to do so - willingly or unwillingly; it's your choice!
Mercury is retrograde from October 1-October 22, for the third and final time this year. It transits from the 30th of Libra to the 15th degree. Dane Rudhyar describes the 30th degree as "a holistic approach to knowledge, based on universals". He describes the 15th degree as "coming to terms with the inevitability of establishing steady rhythms of social activity&ldots;but that activity may either bind or free the consciousness." This certainly underscores the intention of Saturn-Pluto, by making you aware of the importance of mindful interaction.
Neptune goes direct October 17, followed by Uranus on October 30. They have been retrograde since May 10th and May 29th respectively. Retrograde, Neptune induces an inner sense of shifting "reality", while Uranus may be said to describe the sense of internal unrest and instability that results from such disorientation. In direct motion, these two energies create the same phenomena in the world around you. Be assured the world hasn't really changed; you have! And you must therefore attune yourself to the world as you now see it.
Jupiter's retrograde period, beginning November 2 in the 16th degree of Cancer, will assist you. Jupiter describes ethics, usually social ethics. However, when retrograde, you become acutely attuned to the interrelation between personal/social ethics. Cancer, as the sign of the birth of feeling, is also the first glimmering of conscience, as opposed to simple consciousness. Sociopaths have no conscience - no feelings - about what they've perpetrated, though they may be fully conscious of their acts. Therefore, under the protracted influence of Saturn-Pluto, it's imperative that we develop strong principles to mediate gradually emerging standards that form the basic frame of communal decorum.

This summer has been quite busy for us & many of you, as we experienced many transitory planetary periods, as five planets were retrograde. Things will calm down soon on that front as the planets go direct. And then the holidays will be upon us, starting with the Fall equinox, a time of harvest & giving thanks for our bounty. Next we'll celebrate the Celtic new year, Samhain which should be particularly interesting as it is a Full, Blue moon! We should use this day to remember, honor & connect with our ancestors & to ask for their guidance & knowledge in the mysteries of our lives. Thank them for the gifts that they have passed on to us.
