The Goddess of love and beauty, Venus, rules the month of
May. She is the planetary ruler of Taurus and Gemini (esoterically). In an
earlier age May was a time for the wedding negotiations that followed the
fertility festival of Beltane. Wedding dowries were agreed upon for the
nuptials that would take place during the summer months. Summer weddings were
(and remain) most common because the longer hours of daylight and warmer
weather north of the equator provided easier travel to those who were on foot
or horseback.
The first week of May carries a highly creative grand trine configuration
between Mars, Jupiter and Uranus in the gentle and sensitive water signs aiding
optimism, originality, and acting on intuition. Venus enters into fiery Aries
on Wednesday the 3rd adding an ardent and passionate element to ones love life.
Sparks may fly with Mercury and Pluto also in didialog. Feelings will be more
intense this week but so is the empathy. It is easier to put yourself in
another’s shoes now. This planetary kite configuration encourages us to listen
to our hearts and take a risk on something big this week. On Friday the 5th
Mercury, planet of communication and perspective, moves into Taurus, putting a
practical earthy spin on matters. Create an especially fun Sunday, be with
friends and loved ones as it is a super day for productive group activities
with so many planets in friendly links to one another and the luminaries in the
industrious earth signs.
The Week of May 8th begins with an intense focus on productivity, which by
Tuesday is more in balance with the Moon in Libra. Equality and integrity will
be the center point as the Sun squares off with slippery Neptune on Wednesday
the 10th. The Sun/Neptune combination can stimulate misunderstandings usually
based on assumptions and confused agendas.
The Wesak or Scorpio Full Moon occurs at 00:51 on Saturday May 13th. It is
believed that at the time of the Wesak Moon Christ, Buddha, the ascended
masters and planetary Light workers meet together in a valley high in the
Himalayas where a blessing is invocated for humanity. To the earth centred
traditions this was the Full Moon that heralded Beltane and the fertility
celebrations. Each of the fixed signs (Taurus, Scorpio, Leo, and Aquarius) is
associated with one of the four portals or gates to others dimensions. It is
believed that at this Full Moon, and for the next two weeks following it, the
veil between the worlds is thinner. This is when angels and devas, fairies and
leprechauns are more easily contacted. On my website at
www.NorthStarAstrology.net is a visualization based on Wesak legend as well as
more information about this festival. Sunday the 14th brings us Mother’s Day
with the Moon and Venus now in the inspired and buoyant fire signs stimulating
affection, enthusiasm and sincerity.
The Week of May 15th keeps us revved up and moving with Monday’s Sagittarius
Moon joining Pluto (planet of intensity) at midday. The void of course moon
that occurs after 2 pm in this sign is a great time for play and spiritual
activities. Tuesday and Wednesday’s Capricorn Moon favors meeting obligations
and getting down to work. On Thursday the 18th the Sun and Mercury join forces
in realistic and musical Taurus for just 24 hours before Mercury moves into his
home sign of Gemini on Friday. On Saturday the Sun also enters Gemini
strengthening the adaptable, gregarious air energies. Gemini is a witty and
versatile sign that loves to talk adding to the sociability of the weekend
The Week of May 22nd begins with a creative and focused Mercury/Saturn trine.
These early days of the week display tremendous creative opportunity, with
collaborative teamwork highly productive. Venus and Mar square each other on
late Tuesday afternoon increasing the possibility of passions intensifying or
ego clashes. Venus then creates an easy link with Pluto on Thursday providing
romantic or artistic focus and excitement. Friday brings us an unpredictable
square between Mercury and Uranus adding a dose of chaotic energies. This
combination promotes forward thinking to the extent that you no longer perceive
the present but lose yourself in a vision of the future, thus setting oneself
up for mishaps and carelessness.
The Gemini New Moon occurs late on Friday evening at 11:25pm at 6 degrees of
Gemini, a point associated with the radical and extraordinary. What type of
radically extraordinary experience would you like to have? With the New Moon’s
opportunity link to Saturn (planet of realities) you may find you can make your
New Moon intentions a reality through the numerous affirmative energies that
the Moon makes to the higher octave planets with its final link being to
fortuitous Venus as it leaves Gemini’s sign.
On Monday May 29th, Memorial Day, Venus moves in the sign of resources, Taurus.
Time, energy and money may take on more importance while Venus visits here.
With the Moon in Cancer there will a strong sense of patriotism over the
holiday and a desire to connect with family and ones past.
