QABALISTIC MAGIC: DAATH

Daath is known as The Invisible Sephira, the Sphere without a number. Some Qabalists say Daath is not one of the Ten Holy Emanations as the other Sephira are called, but a passageway, a gateway if you will. Others regard it as the 11th Sephira but in a special way - the Invisible Sephira. Aleister Crowley said that Daath was of a different dimension than the rest of the Spheres. Daath is also regarded as Malkuth before its full manifestation in physicality. The Image of the Head with two faces, or Janus-head, is appropriate for in Daath we look both forward and backward. The themes of Lughnassadh, or Lammas, are those of Celebration, Thanksgiving and Sacrifice. The Sun was at its height of its power at the Summer Solstice and since that time nights have become longer and cooler ... we know that Winter is coming even as we are surrounded by plenty. The first summer fairs begin, often continuing through the Autumn Equinox, as the months of August and September together comprise the time of thanksgiving and rejoicing in the abundance of grain, fruits, produce and the health of our herds ... all of which will provide food to see us through the barren winter. August begins with an aspect that occurred on July 13 - Mercury opposed to Neptune (appearing 180 degrees opposite). In July, Mercury was direct (appearing to move forward, from our perspective on Earth), but now Mercury is retrograde. The midway point of the Mercury retrograde cycle occurs August 5th, when the Sun conjoins Mercury in the 14th degree of Leo. The creative/expansive factors will multiply when the Sun moves into a sextile (appears 60 degrees from) with Jupiter on the 6th, and opposes Neptune on the 8th. The sextile to Jupiter in Libra indicates you should be alert and open to what others have to offer to your Dream. When Venus squares Pluto on the 10th, you'll be pressured to relinquish old "tools" that have become inadequate to your new dream and goals. Again, due to Mercury's retrograde motion, Mercury will square Mars twice this month, on the 13th and the 25th. Mercury goes direct (appears to begin moving forward) on August 15th, in the 9th degree of Leo. Venus enters Libra, one of her own signs, the following day - the 16th. The Sun enters Virgo on the 22nd, just days before the final Mercury -Neptune opposition. This is especially good for clarifying unclear visions. Mars will square Neptune on the 28th, meaning you'll do best by operating on faith - but not blind faith! Lastly, the Sun will oppose Uranus on August 31st. Uranus always indicates some variation from the norm, so embrace it. Find out what this means for you.... |
