The NEW Isis Books and Gifts Moving-In PICTURES

The move-in process went smoothly, despite how it may appear!

We opened for business on Saturday, February 16, 2008 in our new location. These are the photos of the stuff coming into its new homes in the days prior to that.

Photos of the Pre-Opening party, Opening Day, and the first Psychic Fair are here.

EEEK! The boxes begin to arrive, and swiftly take over the Mail Order room - and the rest of the support areas in the back of the store.

Still some work to be done on the Herb kiosk, and only a few more hours to go.

The office furniture won't be in place until after the weekend. But the show has to go on. The computers get hooked up to the new networks and - It's a miracle! - all of them survived the trip!

Order begins to emerge from the chaos. Will Christy sets up the crystal ball display case.

Came out pretty, didn't they? Great job, Will. Thanks!

Tony and Fran conspired to create this display. Mostly it was Tony. Yes, the designer.

The new stone display really shows off the crystals, especially on sunny days. Sparkly!

Karen's daughter Morgan with her sons Santiago (the tall one) and Xavier and Karen's younger daughter Sophia just coming into frame, checking out and sprucing up the stone area just as the doors open for the pre-opening event.

Our landmark! This sculpture of blades of grass is about half a block north of us and makes a great landmark. As you see, we are just south of Yale, directly on Broadway. That puts us just over a mile north of Hampden, also.

A view from the north. The workmen are making great progress with the pillars. Check out the architectural rendering on the new location main page for what's coming!

This is one of our treatment rooms. This one is slated to be the office of a counselor. There are others available for rent. Check out details at the Healing Oasis page.

This is another example of the healing spaces availabe for rent. All have plenty of electrical outlets and their own keys, so healers can come and go as they need, even outside store hours.

This is the ceiling of the retail space with the track lighting in place. This shot is facing the front of the store, featuring the stained glass windows that, amazingly, came with the building.

This alcove, sans ladders, tools and unframed door, will be our tarot display area.

The fab Isis wall hanging that Tony made for the store back in 1997 will be the focal point on the green wall. That's also where the cash counter will be.

The slot wall is up. All new display cases and other fixtures should be in place soon. We'll be entertained February 13 - 15 getting all the merchandise moved from Colfax to Broadway and in its places. If you want to volunteer for the moving brigade, leave your name and phone number with Karen at the Colfax store.

This is a detail of the (very much unfinished) top half of one of the pillars that will grace the front of the building. Tony Beach of Casa Beach is the designer of these, as well as the beautiful interior of the retail space.

Same thing, but with the foam capital over which the stucco will be applied being put into place. One more step toward completion. (Thanks for the correction, Tony! Shows what I know about this stuff!)

So much work! The column caps will eventually be finished to a lotus design and painted in traditional Egyptian colors. As they progress, they look like modern sculpture every step of the way.

The porch runs across the entire front of the retail area. These fellows are putting in a lot of hard work to get us ready for the Grand Opening on February 16!

Tarped off and cooking in the cold weather. The columns are getting closer to finished every day.
I think the geometrics of this shot look really cool.

Almost ready for the final artistry that turns a column cap into a lotus.

A closer look at one of the columns.
